MEETING WITH PAVEL AGAIN

This time no shortcuts!

5th July - 8th July | 2022

There is always a first time for everything! It was the first time this morning that I had to queue up to get into the breakfast room as the hotel was booked out! As a single person, I could jump the queue to be seated at a table. After these people have gone, I got a german couple sitting with me. We got completely lost in time as we had such a great conversation; actually, we nearly got shoed out as they wanted to close the room for the day.

I must admit, as busy the place was, there was never a lack of anything! They were really good at topping up and tidying up!

When I took the first bags down before breakfast Schimmelchen was completely blocked in, but thankfully by the time I had done the check-out one car was gone so I could get my bike out.

Around 12h30 I arrived at Pavels' place (www.treesforlure.org). There were already some T7s with their owners and didn’t take long, some more T7s arrived - T7s surrounded my GS ;-) at least there was also another stranger, an Africa Twin ;-) It was nice to meet some other bikers and an MX girl - a bunch of same-minded! They all gathered as Pavel was talking about the Albania Rally (FB: Rally Albania; check it out as really great shots and videos!)

Not only they were bikers, but they were also party animals! The rum shots went down very well during the night!

The next day was a bit of a lazy day due to recovery. As I am interested to change from the Mosko rackless to the Turkana Hippos in winter, for the next leg of the journey, I tested Pavel’s with my current packing volume. That looks very promising, which means I will swing by The Netherlands in autumn to get the luggage system sorted.

The next day we were again pretty lazy. We dropped off the beer barrel and bought some bottles of beer for tonight's dinner. In the afternoon Pavel gave me a tour of his parents' workshop (www.hpstylstudio.com). They do lovely wooden hair-clips, so different to the normal hairbands! I got even my own "hair stick" - so no more pencil needed! Thank you!!

This is not the only profession they got! Pavel’s mum also does cheese (www.prostorzaplotem.cz) - I was in heaven! So with breakfast fresh Kefir and yoghurt, for salad fresh Feta cheese, etc, but the best are the dried cheese sticks!! They are now in my luggage for snacking and I do not have to worry about the next heat wave - nham, nham!

Then it was time to move on, as much as I felt very welcomed! I had a lovely time and I hope he will come and visit us in the Algarve in winter - as we got some fantastic shortcuts in our Serra de Algarve ;-)

Today I only rode up to the Krkonose National Park area.

Unfortunately, it got cold in the last few days, so now it is closed vents and layers at only 15C during the day! Pavels' mother even lit the fireplace one afternoon!

Tomorrow I will try to get to the Adrspach-Teplice Rocks. In the next blog you will find out if I found them and when I got to Poland, to find my roots ... yes, my grandparents (mother's side) come from Schlesien. I am so excited to see the area where they had fled due to WWII.
