VENICE

Venice Italy | Moto Momentum with Steffi & James

Steffi on her little own now...

23rd May - 25th May | 2022

After all, is packed on our bikes, and all the repacking fitted on Steffi’s bike, we left direction Slovenia together :-D In Koper, we topped up our bikes as the petrol is currently cheaper in Slovenia than in Croatia or Italy. James worked out, that we still can go together to see the famous fresco painting of the church in Hrastovlje before finally our ways split.

Unfortunately, that church was closed; you need to call someone to open up (and to pay). Pity, so we started to look on google for a place on our route to have still lunch together. We found in Crni Kal a nice popular restaurant. Our last lunch together (for a while) :-( Now comes really the end of our travelling Europe together!

James went off to the north of Slovenia to enter Austria for his mountain passes tomorrow - his blog will be separate published, once he is back in Portugal!

Steffi continued along the coast, entering Italy towards Venice. Well, as you cannot take your motorbike into Venice, she booked a little apartment at the peninsula Jesolo, Punta Sabbione. What she completely had forgotten, the remaining 140km through Italy went really slow! It took her good 3 hours to get there!!!

The blog will be now in the "I"-form as it is now only Steffi travelling:

The apartment is logistically really good, as just 5mins walking distance to the ferry port to go to San Marco. Late at night, after I got myself organised, I booked the ticket for 9h15, meaning to be there at 9h00, meaning getting up early! I tried to book a tour through the Basilica San Marco or the Doges Palace, but they are all already booked up for the next 10 days - well, that happens if you are travelling without a real plan ;-) However, I think seeing all the places I want to see, I will be busy walking all day anyhow! The only ticket I managed to get, was for Campanile di San Marco Basilica to have an overview.

Here are some of my tour pictures through "Venice" ...Conclusion: beautiful, interesting city! 15km walked in 5 hours!! If you plan a visit, plan it a bit more in advance for the entrance of the highlights though ;-)

Unfortunately at the end of the day, I must have had sunstroke or a really heavy migraine that knocked me out for the rest of the afternoon and night! The worst so far on the travel!

The next day, I had booked a tour to visit Murano, Burano and Torcello. Here are the pictures again, but my favourite is Burano with its colourful fisherman houses! You could take pictures in each corner!!

Back to the apartment, it was again time to start packing ... as tomorrow I will go back to Slovenia. Let’s see how this travelling alone will be going as I have now to plan my own route and not get lost in the Slovenian woods (as there are lots of bears!) ... If you are still interested in my solo travel, watch this space soon!
